The scorching weather has been driving us insane for the past few weeks, but we’re not going to let the sun ruin our beauty routine. In fact, the best summer beauty tip we can give you is to keep things simple while still leaving the house feeling peaceful and put together. We’re sharing our top summer beauty hacks today to keep you looking professional and cool no matter how hot it gets.
When your dry shampoo is empty…
Take out your baby powder. This pleasant-smelling powder isn’t just for kids. Simply sprinkle it on your roots, brush it in, and you’re done! This is a fantastic tip for when you’ve used up all of your favorite dry shampoos.
To keep your pedicure looking fresh…
Always keep a bottle of clear topcoat on hand for touch-ups. Because of the sand, going to the beach after getting a pedicure might make your nails look drab. After the beach, simply apply a new layer of topcoat polish, and bam! Your nails have returned to their original state.
Before jumping in the pool…
Make your mascara waterproof by using a waterproofing agent. Make sure to stock up on waterproof mascara from my favorite brand when summer approaches. You must avoid those unsightly raccoon eyes after a swim.
To prevent sunburnt lips…
Always keep an SPF lip balm in your bag and apply it to your lips before you leave the house. We often overlook the importance of sun protection for our lips. My favorite lip balm is from Nivea because it goes on clean, but if you want a little color, there are various brands like Kiehl’s and Fresh that provide SPF lip balms with a tiny tint.
When you’ve recently colored your hair…
Use a leave-in conditioner to protect it. When there is no protection, color, strength, and moisture all fade considerably faster. To keep your strands soft, use a leave-in conditioner like this or this (for us natural girls) before and after you enter the water. If you want to do it yourself, give your hair an apple cider vinegar rinse before going outside to help the color last longer.
When having too much fun in the sun…
Aloe vera ice cubes can be made with aloe vera gel and a little water. Pour the mixture onto an ice cube tray and store in the freezer for at least 2 hours. Take an ice cube and spread it over itchy or sunburned skin after it has frozen for the ultimate cooling and soothing effect.
When you need to tame your frizz…
Brush using a toothbrush. Hairspray on a toothbrush is a pro trick that’s been around for years. To smooth wayward hairs back into place, gently stroke the toothbrush down the hairline and separate.
When you need to avoid makeup meltdown…
Prepare with Milk of Magnesia. It’s an excellent primer for oily skin. To preserve a smooth and matte face, apply it before foundation and after a moisturizer. One of my favorite summer beauty tips is this!
To sweatproof your blowout…
Apply deodorant. We hate how our hair sticks to the back of our neck in the summer, especially after a blowout and flat iron. Swipe some antiperspirant over the back of your neck to keep your freshly styled hair from sticking to your skin.
When you want quick and glowy cheeks…
Make the switch to a cream-based product. Powder blush can make your skin look cakey on hot days. On natural-looking or sun-kissed skin, a cream stick or liquid blush looks excellent. Simply apply with your fingers to the apples of your cheeks to achieve a beautiful, dewy look.
When you need more SPF…
Mix a broad-spectrum face sunscreen with your foundation to give your skin a little extra sun protection. Squeeze a small amount of foundation into your fingers, then squeeze a small amount of sunscreen next to it, and mix the two together with a brush before applying to your face.
